HBO has released the first images of "The Last of Us," the network's upcoming series adaptation of the popular video game franchise of the same name. Though brief, the trailer gives audiences their first look at Pedro Pascal and Bela Ramsay as post-apocalyptic survivors Joel and Ellie, respectively.
"Everyone I care about has either died or left me," Eli says wistfully in the preview.
"You don't know what damage is," Joel answered coldly.
The footage shows Joel and Ellie navigating a snowy bridge, investigating a dangerous-looking mushroom, playing with the side mirror, and generally doing their best to survive a pretty dark situation. Viewers also get their first look at Nick Offerman as Bill, a character who forms an uneasy alliance with Joel and Ellie in the original video game.
The teaser for "The Last of Us" serves as a surprise spur to a big sizzling reel released by HBO Max on Sunday afternoon.
